Our Mission

EMSPAC Mission Statement

The Emergency Medical Services Public Advocacy Council (EMSPAC) is dedicated to advancing the welfare of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Paramedics, and EMS Officers/Supervisors. We engage in public awareness, hardship response, and advocacy to support all EMS providers.

EMSPAC is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable entity dedicated to supporting the highly difficult work of EMTs and Paramedics. We will support any member of service and their family in times of hardship through the coordination of mutual aid services.

This includes but is not limited to critical stress management, grants and funding support to manage critical incidents, formal and informal peer mentoring, continuing medical education resources, and general advocacy.

Through public awareness, member media training, and regular press engagement we will increase the exposure of positive stories about EMS members in the press.  We will coordinate the release of heroic positive calls, newsworthy member activities, and major incidents to the public.

To achieve that end the EMSPAC will mobilize its members to:

  1. IMPROVE MORALE AND RESPOND TO HARDSHIP

We will support any member of service or their family in times of hardship through the coordination of mutual aid services.

We will put aside our agency affiliations, our sector of deployment, and our tribalistic infighting to emerge as a strong united service. We work to build a profound unity amongst ourselves

  1. ACHIEVE BROAD PUBLIC SYMPATHY

We will foster a broad, durable public sympathy for our EMS Members alongside a strong commitment to fully re-engage the public on matters of public health and general safety.  Through public awareness, member media training, and regular press engagement we increase the exposure of positive stories about EMS members in the press. We coordinate the release of our heroic positive calls, member activities, and major incidents to the public.

We aim to organize a general campaign of public education showcasing EMS members’ ongoing dedication and service to the City, State, and Nation.

  1. ENGAGE IN ADVOCACY AND POLITICAL ACTION

We aim to train 3-5 active duty Advocates at each station, garage, base or work site EMS are employed to champion the advancement of all EMS workers. We must leverage the votes of all EMS and their families in a coordinated manner via an allied 501(c)4. We must form a 527 Political Action Committee (PAC) to enact legislative change for the benefit of EMS workers. We must form a Policy Research Group to draft Pro-EMS Legislation and mobilize a United EMS Voting Block to get our specific needs and objectives on the agenda.

We must make politicians responsive and proactive to the demands of our unique industry.

  1. ENACT LEGISLATIVE CHANGE

We must support politicians that actually care about improving the lives of EMS workers. We will help draft legislation that protects and promotes our EMS members and lobby politicians to get such laws passed.

We encourage politicians to mandate core items from our listed program of objectives into City, State, and National Laws and to work towards justice and Parity for all EMTs and Paramedics.
