We are EMSPAC New Jersey, a mutual aid group for all EMS.
We are open to all EMTs and Paramedics certified in the State of New Jersey.
EMS workers in New Jersey deserve a strong, unified voice. The NJ chapter of EMSPAC exists to advocate for fair treatment, safer working conditions, and meaningful policy change while also supporting the mental health and well-being of our providers.
Our goal is to build a statewide network focused on peer support, education, and engagement with legislators to ensure EMS is finally recognized as the essential service it is.
If you work in EMS and want real representation and real change in New Jersey, this is where it starts.
Emergency Medical Services Public Advocacy Council is an advocacy group to help our fellow EMS. We are the NJ Chapter. The group was founded in NYC in 2020 during the Pandemic.
EMSPAC is free to join. EMSPAC NJ seeks to advance our wages, work conditions, and morale as a service through a range of tactics. Such as HARDSHIP HELP, PEER MENTORING, and PUBLIC ADVOCACY.
New Jersey EMS has its own unique challenges and goals. We are seeking to build an association for all sectors in the State to unite and work towards the common good of NJ EMS Members of Service.
NJ has that two-tiered system where ALS is hospital-based, in a chase car, only dispatched to things that require ALS, and BLS is an amalgamation of volunteer services, paid municipal, hospital-based, and private- so the “quality” of EMTs varies greatly, as do the pay scales and other benefits (insurance, equipment, uniform reimbursement, continuing education, etc).
We have a special emphasis on advancing BLS and seeing EMS made essential in the state of New Jersey.
Often when we try to have the conversation that if you want competent EMTs, you need to make BLS a viable career choice for people, the argument gets a bit circular. The old mentality that “new people should struggle because I struggled” mentality is often paired with a deep resistance to unionization.
There is STRENGTH IN UNITY. Defeating EMS ‘tribalism’ and working together is the only way forward. We want to connect with all kinds of NJ EMS members of service and share information to help each other.
We are in full solidarity with PANJEMS, the Teamsters, and 1199SEIU as well as strong independent locals fighting for EMS wages.
For EMS personnel living or working in New Jersey to share job info, report hardships, and set up times and places to link up and get better support. We have a system to respond to assaults, crashes, injuries, and member hardships. Please report them here and on http://www.emspac.org and do your best to supply actionable, verified data.
We are also interested in all interesting calls, meritorious acts, and newsworthy items.
