Welcome to Team EMSPAC,
You are joining a rapidly growing organization founded by NYC EMS members in May 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage you to discuss the ideas in the EMS Bill of Rights with your partners and consider opening a chapter. We cannot succeed unless this is a united, national fight. Orientation is brief and asynchronous, designed primarily for you to ask questions about our programs and goals. Members are encouraged to use our organizing toolkit and, if desired, establish autonomous chapters in their own states or systems. There are no dues or fees, and your level of involvement is entirely self-determined. All activity conducted through EMSPAC is protected concerted activity in support of EMTs and Paramedics.
The Emergency Medical Services Public Advocacy Council (EMSPAC) is a grassroots organization of active-duty EMS professionals advocating for higher wages, improved benefits, enhanced safety, and workforce wellness. We engage the public, press, and policymakers to address the daily challenges faced by EMS workers. We provide a network of mutual aid and support across 70 local agencies and champion the rights of EMS workers, no matter what sector.
EMSPAC is both a New York State–registered, IRS-approved 501(c)(3) charitable organization and a New York State–registered 501(c)(4) lobbying organization. We are an all-volunteer effort led by an unpaid Board of Directors, Steering Committee, and six standing committees. All leadership remains actively employed in EMS. While our largest membership base is in NYC and the surrounding regions, we also have members nationwide.
Our committees include:
- Organizing & Advocacy
- Hardship Support
- Communications
- Lobbying & Public Affairs
- Medical Education
- Finance/Fundraising
We encourage you to participate in the WhatsApp orientation, schedule time for discussion, and contribute your ideas and solutions. Thank you for joining EMSPAC and for standing with your fellow EMS professionals.
