EMS workers in OK deserve a strong, unified voice. The OKLAHOMA chapter of EMS PAC exists to advocate for fair treatment, safer working conditions, and meaningful policy change while also supporting the mental health and well-being of our providers. Our goal is to build a statewide network focused on peer support, education, and engagement with legislators to ensure EMS is finally recognized as the essential service it is. 

If you work in EMS and want real representation and real change in OK, this is where it starts. 

EMSPAC OK Letter of Intent

I am submitting this letter of intent on behalf of the proposed EMSPAC Oklahoma chapter to outline our initial plans to engage with EMSPAC and support EMS workforce development, advocacy, and awareness efforts throughout Oklahoma.

GOALS

Our goal is to strengthen communication, morale, and working conditions and compensation among EMS providers across the state. We aim to identify current workforce challenges, including retention, recruitment, mental health, burnout, compassion fatigue, occupational injury, infrastructure and maintenance concerns,
Oklahoma-specific hazard exposure patterns, and issues concerning EMS wages, workers’ compensation, and benefits parity. Through collaboration, outreach, and advocacy, we hope to raise awareness of these concerns, encourage data-driven reform, and support organizational practices that improve both provider well-being and
public safety.

We anticipate focusing our initial efforts on the following:

• Opening dialogue with local EMS providers
• Gathering informal feedback regarding workforce concerns
• Identifying common barriers to retention and job satisfaction
• Explore opportunities for collaboration with existing organizations and community partners

As this chapter develops, we would also like to engage in the following:

• Organize educational and awareness events
• Educate EMS workers on current workforce challenges, mental health resources, reporting structures, CME & certification opportunities, and labor/union resources
• Promote sustainable EMS systems and greater organizational accountability
• Advocate for safe, properly maintained, and appropriately stocked equipment and vehicles that meet legal and operational standards

These efforts are intended to better support EMS personnel in Oklahoma while contributing to broader initiatives on improving workforce sustainability, provider welfare, morale, and public safety.

We look forward to contributing to EMSPAC’s mission and will continuing to refine our approach as we gather additional information and build relationships within the EMS community.
